HOW WE VET YOUR CLEANER Only a small percentage of applicants for our cleaning jobs are actually engaged, due to our vigorous vetting procedures. We get anywhere in the region of 50-100 calls per week from cleaners who want to join us. Straight away they are interviewed over the phone and asked many questions including previous experience, ability to provide at least 2 written references, next of kin details, past employment, history, etc. Out of every hundred job enquiry's we only end up booking between twenty and thirty to come and see us for an interview. At the interview stage, they MUST provide at least 2 written references, proof of ID, proof of address, next of kin details and their National Insurance number. Every one sits through a personal interview where we go through their details and experience and make assessments of their suitability. If they pass this phase of the screening process they then go on to a training session which involves learning everything from cleaning techniques, health and safety procedures, client relations, time management, SelClene's procedures and forms, such as the WERF & KSD forms that are in SelClene's very own client pack. They are also trained to use our EXCLUSIVE comprehensive Product Kit, which includes learning how to prevent cross contamination from one room to the next. At the end of the interview and the training
everyone is given a 'competence test'. Over the next few days we then
check out the references of those who have shown that they can meet our
strict criteria and if these are convincing then we will offer the
applicant a cleaning position with a client. When they are working we
continue to monitor their performance constantly and welcome feedback from

VETTING THE CLEANERS
Only a small percentage of cleaners actually start working with us, due to our
vigorous vetting procedures. We get anywhere in the region of 50-110 calls per
week from cleaners who want to join us. Straight away they are interviewed over
the phone and asked many questions including previous experience, providing at
least 2 written references, next of kin details, past employment history etc.
To give you an idea, out of about 75 enquiry's we would only end up booking
between 15-25 to come and see us for an interview. At the interview stage, they
MUST provide us at least 2 written references, proof of ID, proof of address, 2
x next of kin details along with their National Insurance number. Every cleaner
sits through a one-2-one interview with our representative, going through the
application form and the cleaner's contract with SelClene.
The cleaners also sit in on a training session which involves everything from
cleaning techniques, using SelClene's forms, such as the WERF & KSD forms,
(when you sign up with us you will be fully aware of these forms, as they are in
SelClene's very own client pack). They are also trained in our EXCLUSIVE
comprehensive Product Kit, which involves training in preventing cross
contamination from one room to the next. At the end of the interview and the
training everyone completes a questionnaire or 'competence test' as we call it,
so that the understand everything and don't leave the interview with any
un-answered questions.
A lot of cleaners that come to us think that the interview is a bit 'too much'
or involves 'too much training just for a cleaning job' - We on the other hand,
wouldn't have it any other way. The interview actually lasts for 2 hours. They
also take a training manual or 'cleaner's handbook' away with them for further
reading and future reference.
Once we have all the documents in the office we start following everything up
& mark the 'competence test' scores. If for example we are unable to follow
up maybe 1 next of kin, or maybe unable to speak to the referee to verify it,
unfortunately the prospective cleaner is unable to take work from us.
The select few
Out of the prospective workers
that call us, approximately 75 per week, no more than 25 would fit our criteria,
so only 25 would be invited in for an interview. Out of that 25, maybe only 18
would turn up. Out of the 18 only 10-15 would make it through the interview and
the training. Out of that 10-15, on average we would only take on between 6-12
cleaners. It's a big drop out rate, purely because of our requirements are so
critical, but this is why we can offer you good cleaners with confidence.
